Mid‑century modern chrome Kaiser Vogelkooiklok, a mechanical automata clock from circa 1950–1960 with an alarm function, built by J. Kaiser GmbH of Villingen, Germany; 20 cm high, 5 cm wide, 15 cm deep, weighing 500 g, winding key included, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Vintage Kaiser birdcage clock with automatons
Special vintage birdcage clock from the German brand Kaiser, made in the 1950s or 1960s. This mechanical clock is a real eye-catcher thanks to the chromed birdcage, the moving bird, and the unique movement without traditional hands.
Time is displayed on two rotating rings in the middle of the cage. As soon as the mechanical movement runs, the little bird moves back and forth to the rhythm of the seconds. This makes the clock a so-called automaton clock: a combination of a timepiece and a moving mechanical object. In addition, this clock is equipped with a built-in alarm function.
The clock was made by J. Kaiser GmbH from Villingen in the Black Forest, Germany. Kaiser was known for its distinctive mechanical clocks with playful designs. This chrome-plated model is less often found than the brass version and is therefore especially interesting for collectors. Moreover, this example is complete with the original hanging stand, which is becoming increasingly rare.
A beautiful collector’s item for enthusiasts of vintage clocks, German timepieces, mechanical automata and design from the 1950s and 1960s. Also as a decorative piece, this special birdcage clock immediately draws attention.
