Drinking set (7) - Amber - fruit-relief lemonade set

Complete seven-piece Italian amber-glass lemonade or orangeade service, mid century modern.

The service consists of one tall handled pitcher and six matching drinking tumblers. Each piece is made from substantial honey-amber coloured glass, with the increased thickness of the bases creating an attractive darker amber-brown tone.

The surfaces are richly decorated in moulded high relief with grapes, leaves, curling vines and assorted orchard fruit. The smooth raised fruit contrasts with the finely textured background, producing a particularly decorative effect when the glass is illuminated. The pitcher has a tall cylindrical form, an applied loop handle and a small moulded pouring spout incorporated into the rim.

Closely comparable Italian fruit-relief services are generally attributed to Fidenza Vetraria and dated from the 50s to the 1970s.

The set is in very good vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs are visible in the supplied photographs. There is minor age-related surface and base wear, together with small bubbles, mould seams, waviness and glass-flow irregularities associated with the original manufacturing process. These are not later defects.
