AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Elegant and scenographic mantel clock / fireplace clock (pendule de Paris) from the second half of the 19th century (Napoleon III era / Third Republic), crafted in régule (zinc/antimony alloy) finely chased and gilded. The sculptural composition depicts a hunter in traditional period attire, seated atop the clock drum and flanked by a rustic fence, while in his right hand he holds the recently hunted prey (a hare). The majestic pedestal base is enriched with rich carvings of volutes, foliage, and Rococo-style rocaille elements. Included are the original winding key (attached to the sculpture’s hand with a leather strap) and the original detached pendulum/balance wheel; the antique number "30" is impressed on the back plate of the mechanism (indicative of the caliber/theoretical pendulum length) while the matrix/assembly number "267" is impressed on the balance wheel disk. The winding mechanism is functional and the clock should be adjusted for correct operation. Shipped with insured courier.
