Description from the seller
Splendid and imposing vintage tabletop scale, known as the 'Family Scale', dating from the first half of the 20th century.
Design and Materials:
The main body is made of solid, heavy cast iron, adorned with elaborate floral and botanical relief motifs typical of the Liberty / Art Nouveau period. The base rests on four decorative feet that provide stability and elegance. The upper concave plate is made of solid metal. On the back it still retains traces of the original finish (matte sage green), typical of productions of the era.
Dial and Mechanics:
The large exposed analog dial (maximum capacity 10 kg) features an attractive cursive inscription 'Family Scale'. The internal spring mechanism has been tested and is in perfect working order. On the back there is the original butterfly screw for adjustment and zeroing the tare.
Conditions:
The item presents itself in its most authentic guise: it has not been restored or repainted. It shows extensive natural oxidation (rust) affecting the dial, the plate, and parts of the cast-iron body. This fascinating patina of time is its aesthetic forte, making it an ideal piece for Industrial, Shabby Chic interiors, or for rustic kitchens and country houses.
Please carefully observe all provided photographs, as they constitute an integral part of the description. The item will be packed with the utmost care and shipped via express courier with a tracking code.
