Description from the seller
Carl Schlieper Remscheid Adjustable Tap & Die Set in Original Hardwood Case – Germany, c. 1900–1920 – Complete – In excellent condition – No reserve
An exceptional and highly collectible vintage adjustable tap & die set by the renowned German toolmaker Carl Schlieper of Remscheid. Housed in its original fitted hardwood presentation case, this complete set represents the outstanding quality of early 20th-century German precision engineering.
The adjustable die stock is clearly stamped "C. Schlieper Remscheid" together with the maker's iconic Half-Sun (Sunburst) trademark. The robust adjustable mechanism features guide markings (A, B and C) for accurately setting the interlocking die blocks. Every component fits neatly into its original custom-cut compartment, making this a particularly attractive collector's example.
Carl Schlieper was one of Germany's most respected manufacturers of professional hand tools. Based in Remscheid—the historic heart of the German tool industry—the company became internationally renowned for producing precision-engineered tools that combined durability with exceptional craftsmanship. Complete early Schlieper threading sets such as this are increasingly sought after by collectors of industrial antiques and traditional engineering tools.
The set is in excellent vintage condition with an attractive original patina. The tools are complete and fully functional, showing only light signs of honest use consistent with age. The original hardwood case remains solid and well preserved with its original brass hinges and closure.
