Description from the seller
This File / storage cabinet dates from the period 1920–1930 and was produced by H. Pander & Zonen (Hollandia). The cabinet is made of mahogany and finished with beautifully figured veneer, giving it a warm appearance and a sense of richness and quality.
This cabinet originating from a hotel interior, where it was genuinely used for the storage and presentation of tableware and drinking glasses.
The design and craftsmanship show clear influences of late Art Nouveau, with elegant lines and a harmonious balance between function and decoration. At the same time, the cabinet reflects the representative style of the interwar period, created to impress guests in formal and public spaces.
The cabinet shows visible signs of use, consistent with its long and intensive life in a hotel environment. These traces of wear add to its character and tell the story of a piece that has witnessed festive occasions, official meetings and formal gatherings over many years.
An authentic and atmospheric piece of furniture with a tangible history, evoking the elegance and social life of early 20th-century hotel culture.
Seller's Story
My passion for unique objects started early. From antique markets to garage sales, I was always searching for hidden treasures. Later, I learned the ins and outs of the trade at an auction house, and eventually, I decided to forge my own path as an independent dealer. Every day, I work to shape my shop further, and Catawiki is a fantastic platform to expand my collection and share my passion with others.
Finding unique pieces, carefully giving them a second life, and then offering them in my online store. I trust my eye for quality, my sense of style, and my craftsmanship.
