This sculpture represents the faun with pipes, taking inspiration from some drawings found during the Pompeii excavations and a fresco preserved at the National Museum of Naples; the protagonist of the work is the Greek god, depicted with goat legs, a tail, and a human torso.
The faun is a Greco-Roman mythical figure, often depicted as a god of nature who plays the pipes.
In Greek mythology he is also known as Pan, and he is a pastoral deity associated with woods and fields.
