Sony - TC-K222ESJ Audio-cassette deck

Item Description
Offered here is a Sony TC-K222ESJ stereo cassette deck, a 3-head, closed-loop dual-capstan design with quartz-locked direct drive and Dolby S/C/B noise reduction plus HX Pro headroom extension. This unit was originally acquired as a non-working deck and was subsequently repaired, with the mode belt and loading belt replaced; the capstan belt was not replaced. Prior to listing, azimuth and related adjustments were checked, a contact fault on the NR selector switch was repaired, and the headphone jack (previously cracked) was repaired using plastic-repair compound. As a result of this jack repair, insertion of a headphone plug is slightly stiffer than original, though no contact issues have been observed since the repair.

The deck has been used as a secondary unit for about a year following the repair. Power-on has been confirmed, and self-recording and playback with own cassettes have performed well in testing. Not every function has been individually verified, so this should not be considered a fully professionally serviced unit. A 30-minute normal-type cassette, recorded from CD via Dolby S NR (side A only), is included so buyers can check basic playback on arrival.

As with any vintage cassette deck, compatibility with tapes recorded on other machines can vary, and long-term reliability of an electromechanical device of this age cannot be guaranteed. The bonnet has been repainted at some point in the past, and light surface scratches are present overall; please refer closely to the photographs for a full visual assessment.
