Ancient Greek, Hellenistic terracotta - Tanagra goddess figurine
a very graceful figure with some remaining finishing. Red clay with partially preserved undercoat.

Hollow figure, the large opening in the back served for relief during the firing process and presumably allowed the attachment of the figure also as an elaborate handle on a large vase.
A statuette standing on a pedestal in frontal orientation, dressed in a long, richly pleated robe.- Chion .
The right arm is bent, the hand rests on the right chest.
The very finely modulated face in very good condition, knotted hair and on the head is a pointed back hood.
The back is flatly worked, which indicates production with a matrix.
Statuettes of this type were among other things laid as votive offerings in sanctuaries
With a height of 23 cm the object corresponds to the common measurements of this group of statuettes and stylistically fits into the transition from late classical to early Hellenistic form language.
