Description from the seller
George Platt Lynes, 1907-1955, is regarded as one of the masters of photography. His subjects were diverse, ranging from portraits of well-known artists, fashion, ballet and male nudes. He was one of the forerunners in this field and inspired photographers such as Bruce Weber, who wrote the foreword in this book, and Robert Mapplethorpe.
The photographs in this book come from the Kinsey Institute collection. Lynes donated his oeuvre to this institute before his death, out of fear that his male nude photographs would be destroyed. His work is now highly sought after by photography collectors. Much of his work is included in the collections of museums around the world.
