Board game - Giuoco del Fante - Paper

The Jack's Game is an illustrated Game of the Goose published by the daily newspaper Il Resto del Carlino in November 1918 (in the newspaper's supplement) to celebrate the end of World War I. The squares of the game narrated daily life and the events of the war. Dimensions: width 39 cm, height 50 cm.

On 26 November 1918, the renowned writer Corrado Alvaro signed a review/article for the Carlino about this very work. In the text, he praised the drawings full of humanity created by the Tuscan painter Arturo Checchi, which narrated a popular, everyday vision of the conflict.

This is a very rare antique item. It is not a simple Game of the Goose, but a satirical and commemorative board printed exactly in the days of the signing of the Armistice of Villa Giusti (November 1918), making it a collectible piece also for World War I militaria enthusiasts.

The Armistice of Villa Giusti is the surrender agreement signed between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Italy that ended World War I on the Italian front, signed on 3 November 1918 and entered into force on 4 November 1918.
