meridien silver plate co. - Cocktail shaker - 313 - Silverplated

This fabulous hammered cocktail shaker, dating from the Prohibition era (1920–1933), was made by Meridien Silver Plate Co. International of New York (active until 1936) for New York speakeasies such as the 21 Club or the Cotton Club. The curved, ear-shaped handle made it resemble a teapot, and the cocktail was served in teacups. The stopper is cork-lined. With the mark 313, the shaker measures 25 cm in height and about 18 cm in width. It weighs 1 kg.
