After the death of mint master Johan Wijntgens in 1644, urban coinage production in Deventer stood still for a considerable time. In 1661 the mint was reopened under the leadership of Dr. Johan van Harn. As mint mark he chose the Morenkop, derived from the helm device of the Van Harn family coat of arms.

Of the silver ducat of 1662, it is estimated that only about 21,000 pieces were struck, making this a rare issue.
