It has double chimes. It comes with the original key and pendulum.
About the Biedermeier style
This style characterizes German and Austrian furniture from 1815 (Vienna Congress) to 1848, with the onset of revolutionary movements. Its main features are simplicity and functionality. As an origin, "Biedermeier" took on, for the first time in this territory, a pejorative connotation. The word comes from "Bieder," or "simple" and from "Meir," one of the most common German surnames at the time and the name of a "simple" character in a comedy by Eichrodt. This term signified the small bourgeois conservative, concerned only with his own family reality. Although pejorative, the term precisely represents the new sociopolitical situation in which the bourgeois is obliged or resigned to abandon the aspirations for democracy and freedom. The center of life thus becomes the home, which is no longer characterized by unbridled luxury but by comfort and practicality.
As a result, Biedermeier furniture is functional, comfortable, and easy to obtain. The style is an evolution of the Empire Style toward greater simplification, with no ornamental and outdated elements, lighter forms, straighter and curved lines, and lighter colors.
