Pair of French Empire porcelain vases with hand-painted gilding – 19th century

Elegant pair of French Empire-period porcelain vases, dating from the first half of the 19th century.
The vases feature a rich gold decoration with a deep purple-red ground and large hand-painted oval reserves depicting genre scenes inspired by Flemish and Dutch painting: a gallant scene and a musical scene with indoors figures.
The scroll handles further embellish the composition, while the gilding, still quite prominent, gives the pieces a striking decorative impact.
