Description from the seller

Antique Dutch coffee warmers / Kraantjeskan – Hand-painted, signed (W. van Yperen)

For sale is a beautiful, rare pair of traditional Dutch coffee warmers (so-called Kraantjeskan or Kraantjespot) made of tin/metal, presumably from the late 19th or early 20th century.

These pots are not only historical witnesses to the refined coffee culture, but also eye-catching for collectors and antique lovers thanks to their artistic, detailed hand-painting in the Dutch folk-art style.

Details & special features
• Function: The bulbous pots stand on elegant, three-legged frames. At the lower part there is the original spirit burner, which kept the coffee hot on the table back then. The beverage is traditionally poured from the small front taps ("Kräne").
• Motif Pot 1: Shows a detailed, historic city and church scene with passers-by in traditional clothing.
• Motif Pot 2: Depicts a idyllic rural scene with a thatched courtyard, trees and a sheep herder with his flock.
• Artist signature: Both works are signed on the paintings by the artist ("Wouter van Yperen" / "W. v. Yperen").
• Color: Noble matte black with fine gold-toned ornaments and decorations.

Condition
The pots are in an age-appropriate, decorative original condition with a beautiful patina. The paintings are very well preserved and the colors have great depth. Minor age- and use-related traces on the surface and the metal frames are present and give the pieces their authentic antique character (details see photos). The functionality of the taps and burners has not been explicitly tested – sale mainly as a high-quality decorative object / collectible.

Included in delivery
• 2x antique coffee pots with tap
• 2x three-legged table frames
• 2x corresponding burners (spirit lamps)
Are documented in the book by Enrico Maltoni.
