Description from the seller
Antique set of 2 Napoleon III chairs with cane seat – France – circa 1860-1885
Description
A fine set of two authentic antique chairs from the second half of the 19th century, crafted in the elegant Napoleon III style.
The chairs feature their graceful round open backs with decorative knob ornaments, smoothly curling cabriole legs, and hand-woven cane seats.
They were probably made of walnut or fruitwood and have developed over time a warm, natural patina that emphasizes their age and character.
The chairs are in their original, unrestored condition. The weaving of both seats is partly lightly damaged and can easily be renewed if desired. In addition, there are some old cracks and signs of wear, appropriate for an age of roughly 140 to 160 years.
These chairs are particularly suitable for lovers of 19th-century European antiques or as a stylish restoration project.
Period: circa 1860-1885
Origin: France (Napoleon III period)
Material: walnut or fruitwood, with cane seats
Condition: original state, with signs of wear and damaged weave; restoration recommended.
Will be securely packed and shipped.
