Description from the seller

The Salampasu from the border region between the DRC and Angola are renowned for their powerful works associated with warrior and initiation societies. Their sculptures and masks, often marked by expressive forms and geometric scarifications, were used in rites of passage, protection ceremonies, and displays of power. Charged with a strong spiritual dimension, these objects served to impress, protect the community and strengthen the authority of the initiates as well as the connection with the ancestors.

Introduction to our expert house

Based in Belgium, our expert and sales house specializes in African art and ethnography. A trusted seller on Catawiki for more than 8 years, we benefit from a solid reputation and a track record of several hundred sales with an almost 100% satisfaction rate.

We regularly assist with liquidations, successions and dispersals of collections, in collaboration with private individuals and families in Belgium and neighboring countries. Our approach is rigorous, transparent and accessible, with many sales often offered without a reserve price.

Some pieces that have passed through our hands have joined international private collections and, for some, museum institutions.

All of our collections are visible year-round at specialized fairs and exhibitions, but also through the online catalog of our gallery Héritage Galerie:
https://art-africain-traditionnel.com/en/

Shipping guaranteed within 24 hours, with careful packaging, insurance and tracking.
Contact 7 days a week: we remain available for any questions or requests for further information.
