Description from the seller

The Luba of the DRC are famous for their refined sculptures linked to sacred power and ancestor worship. The neck rests, reserved for chiefs and dignitaries, protected the hairstyle while affirming the social and spiritual prestige of their owner. The carved female figures symbolize dynastic memory, fertility and mediation with ancestral spirits. These works accompanied royal rites, initiation ceremonies and divination practices within Luba courts.

Introducing our expertise house

Based in Belgium, our expertise and sales house specializes in African and ethnographic art. A leading seller on Catawiki for over 8 years, we enjoy a solid reputation and a track record of several hundred sales with an almost 100% satisfaction rate.

We regularly assist with liquidations, successions and dispersions of collections, in collaboration with private individuals and families in Belgium and neighboring countries. Our approach is rigorous, transparent and accessible, with sales often offered without reserve prices.

Some pieces that have passed through our hands have joined international private collections and, for some, museum institutions.

All of our collections are visible year-round at specialized fairs and exhibitions, but also through the online catalogue of our gallery Heritage Gallery:
