Erwin Olaf (1959) is a Dutch photographer. He has been working in Amsterdam since the eighties.
Olaf grew up in Hilversum and attended the School for Journalism in Utrecht. After graduating he briefly focused on documentary photography. However, he soon preferred staged photography, because there he could control the image completely.

His staged photographs are sometimes absurd, 'campy', parodying and often shocking: cynical, bizarre, morbid and almost pornographic (homoerotic). A hallmark is the way he can confidently and proudly present both slender and perfectly muscular men as well as dwarfs, fat and old people, and ostentatious SM-ers naked before the camera.
