Description from the seller

Antique Transformable Centerpiece in 800 Silver and Glass – France, late 19th Century

Splendid and refined center- piece for fruit or desserts of French manufacture, dating from the end of the 19th century (circa 1880-1900).
The piece stands out for its exceptional modularity: thanks to the refined threaded central pin and the rosette silver knop, the centerpiece can be easily disassembled. The base can thus transform and be used as an elegant single-flame candlestick in full Neoclassical / Empire style.

Historical Features and Details:

* The Base (Candlestick): Made in solid silver, it features a solid square base resting on four feet elegantly chased with volutes. The stem and base are decorated with classic geometric frames and beaded motifs typical of the era.
* The Plate: Pressed glass from the nineteenth century (consistent with the quality of historic French manufacturers such as Baccarat or Saint-Louis), decorated with a dense and luminous diamond-point pattern and an elegant scalloped edge.
* The Hallmarks: On the square base are clearly impressed the French assay marks (established from 1838). In particular, the famous Boar’s Head mark (Tête de sanglier) is visible, officially certifying solid silver at a minimum standard of 800/1000 for the Paris manufacture.

Technical Specifications:
* Material: Solid silver 800 (body and upper knop) and worked glass.
* Total height of the centerpiece: 14 cm
* Glass plate diameter: 28 cm
* Silver weight: 146 grams (weight of the metal structure only, excluding the glass plate).
* Total overall weight: 1850 grams (silver structure + glass plate).
* Era: Late 19th Century (circa 1880-1900)
* Origin: France (Paris)

Condition: Excellent overall condition consistent with the age of the object. The glass is intact, free of chips or visible flaws, perfect.
The silver presents a beautiful patina of its era and the usual micro-scratches of time that attest to its authenticity. The hallmarks are partially worn by time but readable in their identifying lines.

An extremely elegant collectible piece, perfect both as a display centerpiece and as a refined functional element for a prestigious dining table.
