AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

24 authentic 18th-century Izegem fireplace tiles. - Radermotief

A set of 24 is both rare and atmospheric, especially since the entire batch comes from a single firing.

The white stripes that seem like wear are actually light reflections on the glaze of the tiles. In the photos, the third and fourth tile from the top (counted from left to right) have been pasted from another shot. This makes the color variations come into their own; in the main photo they were somewhat obscured by the lighting. The actual quality corresponds to what you see in the photos.

Properties & Features:

Quantity: 24 pieces

Dimensions: approx. 12 x 12 x 1.2 cm per tile (characteristically smaller than many other Flemish fireplace tiles)

Finish: Glossy glaze with a distinctive radermotif

Origin & Technique: Made from iron-free white pipe clay (pijpaarde), which gives the characteristic yellow base color. Decorated with the addition of liquid copper oxide on the slurry, which during firing produced the wonderfully vivid green accents and color variations on these tiles.

Condition:
Good, authentic condition with a beautiful aged patina and the age-appropriate, characteristic traces.

Packaging & Shipping
The tiles are of course packed with extreme care in a double box-in-box arrangement to fully prevent impact damage during transport.

Total weight (including packaging): 10.04 kg

Package dimensions: 64 x 27 x 27 cm

Customs information
Any costs or charges such as customs duties, import duties, clearance and administrative fees may also apply during the shipment of your purchased lot and will be charged to the buyer.

Unpacking tip for the buyer:
Cut the sturdy outer box upright in the middle around the edges.
The top half can then be lifted off like a lid, revealing the protected inner box.
