Italian Mid-Century Modern extendable dining table in walnut wood with a transparent glass top, 140 cm wide, 86 cm deep and 80 cm high, with two independent wooden extensions stored beneath the glass and in discrete vintage condition with probable small missing pieces.
Description from the seller
Vintage Extendable Dining Table in Walnut and Precious Wood with an Entire Glass Top – Mid-Century / Modern Classic Style – Italy, Circa 1950/1970
Up for auction, an elegant and functional vintage rectangular dining table of Italian manufacture, dating from the mid-20th century. The table beautifully combines the warmth of wood with the formal clarity and lightness typical of Mid-Century design.
The supporting structure and legs are made in warm walnut tones and precious wood species. The four legs feature a refined inverted truncated cone line with vertical geometric inlays and a upper taper, elements that elongate the silhouette without compromising stability.
The main top is entirely made of and protected by a large original clear glass sheet from the period, laid over the framework. The great functional value of the table lies in its proven “pull-out” extension system: the two wide wooden side leaves, housed invisibly under the glass top, extend independently from either side, greatly expanding the surface area for guests and creating a fascinating material contrast between the glass center and the wooden wings.
A versatile and highly classy piece of furniture, ideal for dining rooms, large living rooms, or professional studios with vintage, modernist, or contemporary classical taste.
