Vintage chair in the Scandinavian modernism style, Poland (PRL), ca. 1965–1973, after professional restoration

The presented chair is an excellent example of Polish utilitarian design from the PRL period, created under the strong influence of 1960s Scandinavian modernism. Its simple, harmonious form, the tapering legs, and the distinctive backrest with three horizontal slats reference the timeless aesthetic of Danish design, which at that time exerted a significant influence on designers in Central and Eastern Europe.

Although the original manufacturer’s label did not survive, the construction, fabrication technology, and materials used strongly indicate production in Poland circa 1965–1973. The chair is made of solid beech wood, with traditional carpentry joints kept in place. Under the upholstered seat there is the original plywood with a handwritten assembly mark made with a pencil – typical of mass production of that period.

The piece underwent a complete professional restoration:
- the wood was cleaned and refinished,
- the frame was checked and stabilized,
- the seat received new foam and high-quality upholstery in a subtle green color.

The restoration was performed with respect for the original form and proportions of the furniture.

Today, chairs of this type are prized by collectors and Mid-Century Modern enthusiasts, as they combine functionality with minimalist design. This is furniture that fits well in a contemporary interior as well as in a vintage furniture collection.
