Six Groningen silver dining spoons dating to 1760–1761, total weight 270.5 g, length 20 cm and bowl width 4 cm, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Six Groningen silver tablespoons – year letter 1760/1761 – 270.5 grams
Description
Beautiful set of six antique Dutch silver tablespoons, originating from Groningen and bearing Groningen silver marks.
The spoons bear the Groningen year letter 7/M, which dates to 1760–1761. The master mark is unfortunately not fully legible due to wear and cannot be reliably attributed to a specific silversmith.
The reverse of the handles is engraved with the name:
Johannes Eikema
15-5-1769 – 2-9-1831
This engraving was added later than the manufacture of the spoons and concerns a ownership or commemorative inscription.
Dimensions
Quantity: 6 tablespoons
Length: 20 cm
Width of spoon bowl: 4 cm
Length of spoon bowl: 7 cm
Total weight: 270.5 grams
Condition
Good antique used condition appropriate for a age of over 260 years. The spoons show normal signs of use, light wear, and superficial scratches commensurate with their age. The silver marks are partly worn but still partly visible. See the photos for a true impression of the condition; these form an integral part of the description.
A handsome and rare set of Groningen silver from the second half of the 18th century, of interest to collectors of Dutch antique silver.
