Description from the seller

Splendid and rare vintage wall telephone in wood (oak), original from the 1920s/30s, produced by FATME under Ericsson license for the Italian State Railways (FS).

THE STORY: The item has a fascinating history: it was saved many years ago from the flooded basements of the former decommissioned S. Stefano Quisquina railway station. It still retains its original paper tag from the era with handwritten instructions for service calls between stations and crossovers. An authentic piece of railway industrial archaeology.

THE RESTORATION AND UPDATE: The wooden cabinet and the external metal bells were carefully restored while preserving the patina of time. The internal original components are present. The phone has been cleverly modernized: under the wooden lectern/desk a modern DTMF keypad has been discreetly hidden. This allows the object to fit into any modern setting and be used to dial numbers, merging the charm of vintage design with full modern functionality, without altering the original front aesthetics in the slightest. Only the external cables connecting to the line/handset are missing.

Excellent display piece for study rooms, lounges, or for collectors of railway history and telephony.
