The semicircular shelf support is held by a stunning central high-relief ornament depicting the head of a cherub (winged angel) with wings spread. The putto's face is finely modelled, with a strong expressiveness typical of Italian artisanal craft inspired by Renaissance and Baroque models. The patina of time gives the piece a unique charm, with warm bronze tones due to the natural oxidation of the gold leaf and the preparation of the background (bolo).
