Description from the seller
Important Maple & Co. sideboard (London & Paris), authentic English high-end cabinetmaking furniture dating from the late 19th century – early 20th century.
Made of noble solid mahogany, it fully preserves all its original elements: the sideboard with its original molded mirror top, turned columns, refined raised-relief carvings, period hardware, and the original plaque of the famous producer Maple & Co., one of the most prestigious British furniture manufactories of the Victorian and Edwardian era.
The piece was personally purchased in London about forty years ago and has since remained in the same private property. It is therefore not a recently marketed item, but furniture with documented provenance and a family history.
The constructive quality is evident in every detail: artisanal workmanship, elegant proportions, rich carved decoration and superior finishes—characteristics that made Maple & Co. a supplier to the aristocracy and the European upper middle class.
The condition is very good for its age, with normal and light signs of wear consistent with over a century of life, which confirm its authenticity and charm.
An important piece with great presence, intended for collectors, antiquarians, interior designers, or connoisseurs of original English furniture. Complete specimens with the original mirror, the manufacturer's mark, and proven provenance are today increasingly difficult to find on the market.
