The image shows a wonderful round tablecloth with its eight matching white linen napkins, finely decorated with a combination of cutwork embroidery, satin stitch, and lace inserts (net-like foundation stitches). This specific piece is part of vintage linens included in grandmother’s trousseau and was entirely handmade by nun embroiderers. The embroidery alternates raised elements with satin-stitch for the petals of the flowers and the scroll motifs, with hollowed areas finished in cutwork (visible in the small arches at the top) and filled with net patterns.
