We are looking at a rare and unique fetish from the Bakongo ethnicity.

In the collective imagination, fetishes are among the most emblematic statues and objects of ritual practices and tribal beliefs of the so-called primitive peoples.

Other objects can be considered fetishes in the sense that their function is apotropaic, such as the Nkishi protective statues of the Songye, adorned with horns charged with magical power, and various accessories.
