Cypriot jug dating from the Bronze Age.
Typical Cypriot pottery jug, with a dark gray-brown slip coating perhaps imitating bronze.
This small jug features a globular body resting on a ring base and a long, narrow neck.
It is made of high-quality clay, covered with a glossy slip with metallic reflections. The body is adorned with two circular ridges at mid-height. An elegant handle rises from the shoulder to join the neck and form a circular ridge.
Height 14.5 cm - diameter 8.7 cm.
Excellent condition - visible loss at the neck - no restoration
Provenance: Germany, D.E.R. Gallery.
Previously: Former collection of industrialist H.C.S. [1887-1963]
