Union Optical metallurgical microscope No.12375 from Tokyo, Japan, a vintage 1950s–1960s instrument in metal and wood with a tested working condition, supplied with the original wooden case, two wooden specimen holders with glass jars, the original key, and metal labels.
Description from the seller
A beautiful and rare vintage industrial/metallurgical monocular microscope from the renowned Japanese manufacturer Union Optical Co., Ltd. (Tokyo).
This specific instrument bears serial number No. 12375 and dates likely from the 1950s/1960s.
Unlike regular biological microscopes, this model is designed for metallurgy and materials analysis.
It features an integrated side illumination tube for vertical top illumination. This makes it possible to study opaque objects (such as metals, ore, and minerals) from above.
Equipped with the original, marked Union Optical objectives (including numbered 55188 and 4493, etc.).
Delivered in the original authentic wooden storage case with the original metal nameplates ("Metallurgical Microscope" and "Union Optical").
Includes two wooden specimen holders with glass jars/bottles with black caps and the original key for the case and box with original accessories and glass slides.
The microscope is visually in a beautiful, authentic vintage condition with light aging and wear consistent with its age. The finish and chrome are very nicely preserved.
The mechanical settings (coarse and fine adjustment) move well.
The original lighting wiring is present, but the electrical operation and the lamp have not been tested (it is recommended to check the wiring for modern electrical use). The only thing missing is the micrometer power feed of the microscope to the mains.
The optics are clear with no visible deep scratches.
A splendid and complete collector’s item for enthusiasts of historical scientific instruments, optics, or industrial history!
