Winged Sphinxes, a pair of sculptures, mythological figures with the body of a lion and the head of a human, used as prestigious decorative elements. 19th-century artistic period; the design recalls the Napoleone III era, or Empire, in which Neoclassicism was very popular in Europe. Napoleon, laid at rest after returning from Egypt, inspired Egyptian art. The luxury of painted and gilded wood suggests an artisanal, antique artwork, elements of Grecian mythology with the aesthetics of ancient Egypt. Material/ Dimensions for 1 statue: 30.5 cm / 28 cm / 9 cm. All in wood, ebonized with gold details. The support could belong to another period. Condition: discrete.
