Lamp - Brass

A typically Portuguese olive-oil lamp, common in the 19th century and early 20th century. Fully functional.

Made entirely of brass, this lamp was used for home lighting, often using olive oil of poorer quality or that was not fit for consumption. It has the original utensils necessary for its operation, suspended by chains (as seen in the photos), which are used to insert the wicks, pull the wicks and remove the morrões, to extinguish (extinguisher), and a small container for morrões.

This piece has been rigorously cleaned and the brass polished and brightened. It is in good condition and fully functional, already fitted with new wicks and ready to be used or displayed. Its light, soft and flickering, is very relaxing, recreating atmospheres from other times.

The photos are an integral part of the description. Figure 3 shows the sequence of assembly and disassembly of the lamp. About 1 meter of cotton wick will be supplied for later replacement.

Usage:
- Fill the reservoir with olive oil to the appropriate level, avoiding overflow.
- Wet the wick before lighting, ensuring it absorbs the oil well so that the flame catches steadily.

Shipping will be carried out with protective and secure packaging, with a tracking number.

Warning (in addition to normal flame care):
- Never use wicks made of synthetic materials, nylon, polyester or acrylic. Only wicks of natural fibers may be used, such as cotton, flax, hemp, or jute.
- Liquid paraffin does not work in these wicks lamps. Food oils, unlike olive oil, produce fumes and the smell of burnt oil.
- Monitor the oil levels; without oil the wicks burn, producing fumes and an unpleasant odor.
