The Philips DCC 600 is a second-generation Digital Compact Cassette (DCC) home audio deck introduced by Philips in 1993.
Designed as a more compact, affordable alternative to the original flagship DCC 900, it features a unique portrait-mode tape loading mechanism where the cassette is inserted vertically like a CD tray, rather than flat.
Format:
Dual-function deck that records and plays digital DCC tapes, and provides playback compatibility for standard analog compact cassettes.
Audio Technology:
Uses Precision Adaptive Sub-band Coding (PASC) digital compression at 384 kbit/s and Bitstream D/A conversion.
Frequency Response:
20Hz to 20,000Hz (± 0.5dB).
Connectivity:
Includes analog RCA inputs/outputs alongside coaxial digital S/PDIF connectivity.
