Description from the seller

Pair of candlesticks in 800 silver, Milan, Italy – neobaroque style

Pair of candlesticks made in Milan, Italy, in 800 silver. The structure features a circular base decorated in relief, a fluted column shaft and capitals with elements of classical inspiration. The workmanship revisits neobaroque and neoclassical motifs typical of Italian silver production of the 20th century.

According to information passed down by the family, the silver used for the realization of the candlesticks comes from the melting of Italian 500 lire silver coins.

The candlesticks are stamped with the hallmark "800" and with the producer's mark "M 37". In terms of stylistic characteristics, fabrication technique and material type, they are probably datable to the second half of the 20th century, between the 1960s and 1980s.

Each candlestick weighs about 1,100 g, for a total weight of about 2,200 g. This is a pair of solid silver pieces with relief work and a robust structure.

A specimen of Italian silverware of the twentieth century, suitable both for collectors and as a decorative object.
