AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A striking and exceptionally large French majolica serving platter by A. Georges, Jussey-les-Eaux, renowned for its expressive organic forms and richly glazed ceramics. Designed as a monumental oyster shell, this impressive piece was intended as a central serving platter for presenting oysters, seafood, or other festive dishes.
Its sculptural shell form is enhanced by a deep aubergine-brown iridescent glaze with beautiful lustrous reflections, giving the surface remarkable depth and elegance.
Thanks to its generous size and shallow design, it also makes a superb decorative centrepiece when not in use.
Presented in very good vintage condition, with normal traces of age and use. There are some small chips to the rim, shown clearly in the photographs, while the glaze remains beautifully preserved with an attractive glossy finish.
A rare and highly decorative French serving piece that perfectly combines practicality with sculptural artistry, ideal for collectors of majolica, oyster ware, or French decorative ceramics.
