Pyromorphite is a mineral belonging to the apatite group and composed of lead chlorophosphate: Pb5(PO4)3Cl, which is sometimes found in sufficiently high concentrations to allow its extraction as a lead ore. Pyromorphite is part of a series with mimetite (Pb5(AsO4)3Cl) and vanadinite (Pb5(VO4)3Cl), and the similarity of external characteristics among these three minerals is such that they are generally distinguishable only by chemical analysis.

La Piromorfite è un minerale appartenente al gruppo dell'apatite e composto da clorofosfato di piombo: Pb5(PO4)3Cl che, a volte, si rinviene in concentrazioni abbastanza elevate da permetterne l'estrazione come minerale di piombo. La Piromorfite è parte di una serie con la mimetite (Pb5(AsO4)3Cl) e la vanadinite (Pb5(VO4)3Cl) e la somiglianza delle caratteristiche esterne fra questi tre minerali è tale che in genere è possibile distinguerli solo mediante un'analisi chimica.
