Jan Snoek
Beautiful, striking Jan Snoeck sculptures made of ceramic and hand-painted, signed. They were made in the last quarter of the 20th century. The left figurine is 11 cm high and 12 cm wide and 3 cm deep. The right figurine is 8 cm high and 15 cm long and 4 cm deep. Painted in beautiful bright colors. The bases of the figures are signed. Shipped by registered mail.
Jan Snoeck (1927 - 2018) studied at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts (Kov) in The Hague, where he graduated in 1949. In 1953 he spent a year in Ossip Zadkine's studio in Paris.
In the beginning, Jan Snoeck worked with materials such as stone, wood, and bronze. Later, he mainly worked in ceramics. He used cheerful, primary colors and people were usually his subject. Among other things, he made the beds for the MCH Westeinde in The Hague. Snoeck's predominantly monumental work can be found both in the Netherlands and abroad.
Works by Snoeck can be found in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem, and the Princessehof Museum in Leeuwarden.
Jan Snoeck was a student of Ossip Zadkine and studied at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague.
