Beautiful example of an Ngulu execution sword.
The sword is used by the Bantu peoples including the Ngombe, Doko, Ngala, etc.
The execution sword was used for executions by beheading.
It dates from the 20th century (1900-1950) and originates from the Congo Basin.
Given its age, the sword is still in reasonably good condition.
The Ngulu swords are also prestige objects used in dances where combats are imitated.
Additionally, they are also used for animal sacrifices.
