Spectacular monograph by photographer Guido Mocafico, devoted to his famous Serpens photographic series.

Mocafico photographs snakes isolated on a deep black background, like true contemporary still lifes. The coiled and intertwined bodies, the patterns of the scales and their sometimes extraordinary colors give rise to compositions of great graphic power, often close to abstraction.

Cobra s, vipers, mambas and other species are photographed with extreme precision. The series constantly plays on the oppositions between beauty and danger, fascination and aversion, seduction and threat.

The book’s design places particular emphasis on the photographs, reproduced in large format, frequently full-page or double-page.

The work contains very little text and presents itself above all as a photographic book, which makes it widely accessible regardless of language.
