Description from the seller

A couple of conical silver-plated tea canisters. A beautiful example of Dutch silverware from the 1960s.
These stunning tea canisters with lids were made by silversmith Herbert Hooijkaas from Schoonhoven for the famous Dutch coffee and tea company Douwe Egberts (DE).
Marks on the rim include:
“DE” - the Douwe Egberts logo that confirms the authenticity and origin of Douwe Egberts.
and “HH90” which stands for silversmith Herbert Hooijkaas, Schoonhoven, and refers to silver plating. 90- is a number indicating the thickness of the applied silver layer.

The chest is decorated using “repousse” - a metalworking technique in which the metal is worked or formed from the back to create a raised design in relief on the front. This process pushes the metal forward and creates a raised pattern on the front. The word “repoussé” comes from French and means “pushed” or “pressed.”

The village scenes on the lid of the canisters adorn the entire surface as well as the lid of the canister. The canisters are decorated with hammered repoussé depicting a horse-drawn cart and a group of people making music. This detailed and artistic depiction gives the preserves a nostalgic charm.

Both canisters are in a neat condition; the silver finish is still well preserved. They have intentionally not been fully restored to new to preserve the vintage state. (can of course be polished later if desired)
