Description from the seller
Impressive large sculpture of a lute player / medieval minstrel by Gebroeders Van Paridon, Amsterdam.
A particularly decorative and finely detailed figure depicting an elegantly dressed minstrel playing a lute. The sculpture has a beautiful bronze-like finish with characteristic green patination, giving the piece the appearance and depth of an aged bronze sculpture.
The figure is especially attractive for its expressive face, detailed hands and musical instrument, richly modelled clothing, pointed shoes and flowing folds of the garment. Viewed from every angle, the sculpture displays considerable attention to detail.
The sculpture is made of Paridur, the characteristic composition material associated with the Van Paridon workshops, finished to imitate patinated bronze.
With an impressive height of 41 cm and a weight of approximately 1.85 kg, this is a substantial and highly decorative example.
The sculpture is marked on the base with the Van Paridon marking/model indication, as shown clearly in the photographs.
Condition:
In excellent condition for its age. The sculpture is complete and very well preserved, without significant damage. The attractive aged green and bronze-toned surface has been beautifully retained. Only very minor signs of age and use are present, consistent with its period. Please study the detailed photographs, which form an important part of the condition description.
