Beautiful and rare antique silver buckle with a rich Belgian history.
The buckle bears several authentic marks, including the inscription "CUGNON AOUT-1902" and the master mark SJ. This directly refers to the picturesque Belgian village of Cugnon in the Ardennes, where this unique piece was artisanal manufactured at the time.
The design stands out for its extensive, openwork and extremely detailed relief work. In the past, this type of buckles were used as fashionable closures for shoes, belts, or clothing. Today it is a rare and regionally highly valuable historical collectible sought after by collectors worldwide.
