Elegant Murano crystal blown vase with a two-colour blue-turquoise inner layer and amethyst outer layer, a slender silhouette, height 30.3 cm, width 12 cm, diameter 12 cm, weight 1050 g, in excellent condition with the original Made in Murano – Italy label.
Description from the seller
Elegant two-tone Murano blown crystal vase, preserving its original tag “Made in Murano – Italy.” This piece perfectly illustrates the clean aesthetics that contributed to the prominence of Murano’s artistic glass in the second half of the 20th century. Its slender silhouette, combined with remarkable color layering, makes it a decorative object of great elegance, characteristic of Venetian productions from the 1960s to the 1980s. The presence of its original label is a valuable guarantee of provenance.
The vase features a perfectly balanced drop-shaped body, extended by a long cylindrical neck with sober lines. It is crafted using a double-glass technique, akin to sommerso, where a turquoise blue inner layer seems to float within an outer envelope of delicate amethyst hues. This layering creates a remarkable visual depth and infinite variations of light depending on the viewing angle. The piece’s particularly elongated proportions highlight the mastery of Murano’s glassmakers, while the play of translucencies emphasizes the crystal’s purity. The few micro-bubbles visible in the material attest to its artisanal production.
The condition is excellent. No chips, cracks, or restorations to report. The neck is perfectly intact and retains a clean edge. The crystal shows a beautiful luster, and the original metal tag “Made in Murano – Italy” is still present, a detail that has become rare for this type of production. Very light traces related to manual shaping are consistent with high-quality artisanal manufacture.
Since the 13th century, Murano has been the historic heart of Italian art glass. The island’s workshops earned international fame thanks to their mastery of glass blowing techniques, color-layer stacking, and crystal work. From the 1950s onward, minimalist lines and contrasting colors achieved immense success and contributed to the Italian design revival. Lacking a signature that would allow a definite attribution to a specific glassmaker or designer, this vase fully sits within the Murano artistic productions of the second half of the 20th century, where the elegance of form and chromatic richness take precedence over ornamentation.
Dimensions are:
- Height: 30.3 centimeters,
- Width: 12 centimeters,
- Upper diameter: 2.8 centimeters,
- Base diameter: 6 centimeters,
- Weight: 1050 grams.
The vase will be carefully packaged and shipped promptly in a secure manner. In-person pickup and combined shipping are available. Photos are part of the description.
