Description from the seller
Magnificent Massive Malachite Sculpture - 10 kg - Eye-shaped and Natural Sinuosities - Democratic Republic of the Congo
Dimensions cm. 30 x 25
Weight 10 KG.
condition: excellent
a sculpture carved from a single, enormous block of premium Malachite from the famous mines in the Katanga region (DR Congo). This specimen stands out not only for its substantial weight of 10 kg, but also for the craftsmanship with which it has been worked to highlight the botryoidal formations typical of this mineral.
The surface has been expertly mirror-polished, revealing a hypnotic play of concentric circles (known as "malachite eyes") and veins in different shades of green, from deep forest green to light emerald green. The form is organic and modern, making it a design object as well as a mineralogical collecting piece.
Malachite has been known since antiquity as a stone of protection and transformation; a piece of this size is considered a rarity on the market and represents a valuable long-term investment.
