Antique Louis XVI style gilded brass photo frame from France, dating to circa 1900–1920, with external 19 x 19.8 cm dimensions and 1.3 cm depth, internal 14.5 x 12.5 cm, featuring a removable easel and brass clasps.
Description from the seller
Elegant photo frame in gilded brass in Louis XVI style with Empire influences.
The facade is dressed with moiré fabric featuring fine horizontal ridges, the top crowned by an elegant cornice composed of a laurel wreath tied, framed by symmetrical leafy sprigs.
The four corners are adorned with openwork appliques combining ribbons, rosettes, acanthus leaves, and stylized acorn motifs. The inner beading is underscored by a beaded frieze, while the outer molding features a continuous frieze of finely carved laurel leaves.
The back retains its original green fabric covering as well as its retractable easel and its brass pivoting clasps.
The black background visible on the front is a synthetic sheet added later.
France, early 20th century (circa 1900-1925).
Overall good condition, signs of age and use, stains on the moiré fabric, scratches and micro-scratches, wear and patina marks on the gilded finish. The easel securing ribbon is torn, but still functions correctly. The clasp at the back on the right is loose and no longer holds in the closed position. No glass.
