Gesso (Selenite) – Roccastrada, Grosseto

Large natural slab of gypsum, selenite variety, from Roccastrada, in the province of Grosseto.
The specimen is characterized by high transparency, which allows appreciation of its typical internal structure and the mineral's natural cleavage.
The surface shows the characteristic silky appearance of selenite, with delicate growth lines.
There are also some slight scratches and small surface imperfections, normal for a mineral particularly soft and delicate like gypsum, which do not compromise its overall appearance.
For its size and good transparency, it is a particularly suitable piece for display or to enrich a collection devoted to Italian minerals.
