This lot consists of ten silver thimbles from different countries and made in the last two centuries, a Dutch thimble as early as 1840. A number were made by famous German thimble factories in the first half of the 20th century. These have a star or triangle mark in the top and one has a gemstone top. A few later thimbles were made in Portugal and Mexico in the 1970's/1980's as souvenirs for tourists. All are in very good condition (no holes) and some are even MINT! All thimbles are marked silver (800 - 925 - "Sterling" - Dutch import marks and an English thimble with a full set of hallmarks - see photos). An unusual small open-top thimble (tailor's thimble) was made in America around 1920 and is in perfect condition.
