The Stove stool was presented at Milan Design Week 2023, within Alessi’s Ars Metallica exhibition.

Philippe Starck humorously recounts the surprising genesis of his stool: “The starting point of the Stove chair is a very serious joke, with a sketch of a pan with legs and the brilliant idea of adapting existing high technology for different purposes. The seat and backrest are inspired by a frying pan, the legs forming the handles. The Stove chair elegantly embodies the finest evidence of human intelligence: humor and technology. Exactly as my relationship with Alberto and Alessi.”

In its literal reference to the “frying pan,” this collection pays homage to Alessi’s identity, which has been manufacturing top-quality table and kitchen utensils for over a century. “Stove Collection” explores the expressive potential of metalworking through Philippe Starck’s vision. The result is a family of small furniture where the metal element takes on a surprisingly fluid materiality, enveloping the wooden components with an unexpected harmony. Wood and steel: two opposing materials that pair perfectly for a high-end effect.
